The Majestic Star, built originally to serve as a dance studio as well as a home,
holds its own place among the historic houses of Cape May.
From the moment you step onto the grand porch you are in the company of
presidents. Judge Wescott, when still a practicing attorney, was given this house as
payment for winning a divorce settlement for the original owner.
For several years after that, Judge Wescott, hosted his close friend,
President Woodrow Wilson. Judge Wescott nominated Mr. Wilson both times he was elected
President, and Mr. Wilson delivered one of his campaign speeches from the second
floor balcony of this home.
Upon entering the Majestic Star, you will see the original stained glass windows
themed for the music that originally filled the home when it was a dance studio. If you
look closely, you will notice that the stained glass Mandolin contains actual strings.
Most of the rooms, all large and airy, still host the soft pine flooring of the original
structure.
The house was purchased by the present owners in 1999. It was love at
first sight. The Italian Asterino name means "Little Star", but since nothing about this
unique house could be described as little, the name Majestic Star was adopted.
The house is meant to bring family and friends together in the grand
style of the Victorian era; elegant, but comfortable. So if you have a special family or
great friends that you want to share the Cape May experience with, consider a holiday at
the shore in the comfort of the Majestic Star.
